EDUCATION AND CAREER

Sofia completed her Bachelor’s degree program in 2018 at the Faculty of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, branch in St. Petersburg, and holds a Master degree in Law of the St. Petersburg State University under the program «Civil and Arbitration procedure», graduated in 2021.

Sofia has 5 years of experience in litigation in various categories of disputes in courts of the Russian Federation, took part in judicial proceedings in courts of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Was involved in disputes related to improper performance of contractual obligations, recovery of losses, unjustified enrichment, disputes on the protection of intellectual property rights (collection of royalties), in cases on appeal of decisions and actions (inactions) of state bodies, disputes with customs, cases of administrative offenses, disputes on protection consumer rights and others. Successfully participated in peaceful settlement of disputes at the pre-trial and judicial stages, supervises the conduct of enforcement proceedings, interacts with various government agencies.

Among Sofia’s significant projects may be highlighted the representation of interests of a company, that specialized on sale of foreign-made chemical products, in a dispute with the russian customs on the collection of customs duties in the amount of more than 3 million rubles. Based on this case the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation formulated a legal position excluding the mandatory pre-trial (administrative) procedure for the return of excessively collected/paid customs duties in cases where the collection/payment occurred as a result of an error made by the customs authority.

Sofia also specializes in advising business on various issues related to commercial activities, including trade, catering services, communication services, construction and repair, advertising, modeling etc. In particular, she conducts contractual work, advises in the field of corporate governance, draws up corporate documents, accompanies registration procedures such as reorganization, liquidation and others, carries out legal review of real estate objects before their acquisition or lease.
