Our client took out a bank loan but did not repay it on time. At this time, the bank itself went bankrupt, and its loan portfolio was sold to a collection agency. The collectors demanded the return of the loan, and after the client refused to return the debt, they applied to the Vyborgsky District Court of St. Petersburg. We filed a response in defense of our client, in which we pointed out that the statute of limitations for this claim had expired, and the running of the term was not interrupted by either the bank’s bankruptcy or the sale of the loan portfolio to collectors. During the trial, we managed to convince the representative of the collection agency of our legal position, and they withdrew the claim. The refusal was accepted by the court and the proceedings in the case were terminated, which closed the issue of this old debt for our client.
